Seven Things to Do Before Getting Your Limousine Service in South Florida

You hired a limo service in South Florida, now how can you ensure you’re getting a safe vehicle and driver? Even with the craziness the night of an event, here are seven important steps to take before getting into your limo:

Ask About Age And Condition Of The Car

You want to ensure the cars are up to date. Ask what the make and model of the car is, and what year is was made. Ideally, the car is under four years old—unless you booked an older car on purpose in which case you definitely want to check on its condition and militance especially if traveling on highways.

Do A Visual Inspection Of The Car

You want to make sure that the car looks up to date, including with seat belts for every passenger. While not all states require them, wearing a seat belt is the safest way to ride in a limo.

Ask For License And Registration

Ask to see the driver’s license, and the car’s registration to ensure all are up to date. This can be a challenge because the first time you see a car and driver may be when they arrive to take you on your trip. It might make sense to book your pickup time for much earlier than you need. That way if you are unsatisfied or don’t like what you see, you’ll have time to demand that the company send a replacement—which hopefully will be better and safer.

Check The Company’s Safety Record

The DOT website has a database of safety records for bus and van companies—vehicles that fall under the umbrella of passenger carrier companies. In order to get accurate information, you’ll need the company’s name and its USDOT number. It should be listed on the company’s website. If not—and the company refuses to provide it—find another company to hire.

Get A Referral From Someone You Trust

Sure, reading Yelp or TripAdvisor reviews can be helpful, but it’s better to hear a positive (or negative) review from someone you know and whose opinion you value. People will share negatives way more often than positives. So if you need to rent a car service and all you hear from friends, family members and colleagues are bad things, look elsewhere.

Price Isn’t Everything

Renting a limousine in South Florida with a driver isn’t cheap. But in doing so, you are putting your safety into the hands of a stranger. Sadly, that old adage of you get what you pay for could apply to a limousine company. So rather than make your decision based on price, instead focus on safety, inspections and referrals.

Pay Attention To How The Car Feels Once You’re Inside

If at any time you feel unsafe, ask the driver to pull over. Then, call the company and request a change of the driver or request a new vehicle so you can arrive at your destination safely.
